KNOW YOUR LIBRARY
Library is heart
of the institution and reflects the culture of institution. The objective of
our library is to identify, acquire, organize store and retrieve to disseminate
information to help the users in their general pursuit of knowledge.
The
college library is situated on the fourth floor of the main building having
seating capacity of 135 students.
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
•Silence shall be observed at all times in all parts of the Library.
• Loud discussions, smoking, eating, playing cards, or engaging in other activities disruptive of Library operations are strictly prohibited.
• Students shall be subjected to disciplinary action for any of the following acts: (a) any form of dishonesty, deception or fraud in borrowing/using Library materials; (b) gross and deliberate discourtesy; (c) damaging or defacing Library property; (d) unlawful taking of Library property.• Students are required to present their ID cards when entering the Library.
• Any person who
lends his/her Identification Card shall have his/her Library privileges
suspended for not more than one semester. Similarly, any user who uses
Identification Card not his/her own will be subjected to the same penalties.
• Students caught defacing, mutilating or stealing any Library material or property will be fined and required to replace the same or pay the replacement and processing cost. In appropriate cases, the additional penalty of suspension or expulsion shall be imposed.
• Wet umbrellas should not be brought inside the Library.• Students should present books and personal belongings for inspection upon leaving the Library.
• Students are
advised to read notices and be guided accordingly by notices posted at the
service areas.
• A student who
fails to settle his or her Library accounts will not be issued library
clearance & their results are withheld.
• Mobile phones
must be switched off when inside the Library.

SERVICES:Only
bonafide students are allowed to enter in the library. Entry in to “Library
Attendance Register” available at library entrance is compulsory for the
students.

i) One Book for UG and Two Books for PG
will be issued against the library card for seven days and should be returned
within the due date, failing which a fine Rs.1/- per day will be charged.
ii)Reference books, Question paper
sets, Newspapers, current issues of the periodicals & Journals are issued
only for the use in reading hall against the Identity Card. If students issue
the books against their Identity Card for home lending, a fine of Rs.100/- will
be charged.
2. Internet Surfing: Internet
and downloading facility is available subject to Educational purpose only with
free of cost.
3. Reprographic
Facility: Photocopying facility is available subject
to the copy write rules. Rs.1/- per page will be charged for the photocopy.
4. Duplicate Identity Card: Loss of Identity
Card and Library Card must be reported in writing to the Library. Duplicate
Identity Card /Library Card will be issued against a payment of Rs. 100/- and
10/- respectively. Students should submit First Information Report (F.I.R.)
registered in Police Station along with prescribed format available in the
library. Application should be duly singed by Principal or Vice-Principal.
5. Book Bank Scheme: Under
this scheme, text-books are issued to economically disadvantage, Backward Class
and Disable students. Students who wish to avail this facility should apply in
prescribed form to the library within due date along with the following with
the following documents.

certificate 2. Parental Income
6. E- Resources: Library
is a member of INFLIBNET N-LIST programme which enables to our colleges
students, researchers and faculty members to access the E- journals. More than
3000 electronic journals and 75,000 electronic books etc. are available through
this service.
7. Library Orientation: Library
orientation is given to the new students and newly recruited staff of the
college to enable them to use the library collection extensively and
effectively.
8. OPAC: (Online Public Access Catalogue):
Students
can search the books through this online computer facility. Books are searched
by Title, Author, Subject and Members status.
9. News Paper Clippings Service:
Clippings
required for project work, subject wise news paper clippings files are
maintained in the library.
10. Reference and Information Service:
11. Job Watch: Recruitment notices published in various Newspapers are displayed in the Notice Board at the Library to aware about the possible job openings. Students are advised to refer the Notice Board periodically.
12. Wall Paper Magazine: College Wall Paper Magazine “HAVIHAVISHI
HAAK” is published by the students for the students. Students can
contribute their own poems, articles etc. in Marathi, Hindi or English for the
same.
13. Readers Forum: The forum is an
initiative by Vikas College library in association with its Marathi Wangman
Mandal. The forum works with a simple intention of initiating and
encouraging discussions on a certain
pre- decided books or current affairs
and this would facilitate two things-to inculcate good reading habits
among the members as they would know what to read and how, as well as to
upgrade their knowledge.
14. Library Committee: The
Library Committee makes recommendations on matters of library policy, including
allocation of the purchasing budget among the academic departments.
